Second Hitachi Content Platform video now available on YouTube

As promised the second of our two videos covering Hitachi Content Platform and it’s peripheral products is now available on YouTube. For those not familiar with the concept of HCP, watch video 1 first. This second video covers Hitachi Data Ingestor, HCP Anywhere and some archiving options. It’s very possible that content platforms will become the future of storage for most unstructured data, so if you are looking for a DropBox type architecture that YOU control, or if you are struggling to manage file services at your branch offices, you should certainly take a look. Object Storage – The next big thing in on-premise storage?

Historically when we have discussed shared storage it has always been about Block or NAS platforms, but now there is a “new kid on the block” in the form of Object Storage. To explain what it is, let’s start with a brief overview of each of the different storage platform types: Block Storage LUNs are presented to application servers, typically using the Fibre Channel or iSCSI protocols, with the host OS managing the file system.
